First of the best

A worthy edition to literature of the Red Sox. Learning the composition of their first team is well worth the price of admission.

the first Pilgrims (red sox) team

a very interesting book on the first year of the Boston Pilgrims (red sox) on how they came into being starting with the first signing of hall of fame third baseman jimmy Collins. The book takes you through the entire 1901 season. Then there is the story that Boston was not even considered for an American League franchise as a show of good faith they were going to stay out of Boston and how plans changed. If you want to learn the early history of the red sox then you'll enjoy this book

A Sense of the Pioneers of Baseball History....

Excellent chronicle of the early years...great profiles of the players including my relation Fred Parent. A lot of one of a kind photos

Where did the Red Sox come from?

This book is a well-written and well-researched historical treasure. The year 1901 was the first year of the Boston Red Sox franchise. They were called the Boston Americans in those days, and instead of playing at Fenway Park, they played on the old circus lot of the Huntington Avenue Grounds. How did this new team come about? How did this new American League form? Who financed all of this? How did the National League teams react to their star players jumping ship to this new league? You will discover all of these stories and more through excellent contributions of player biographies, a day-by-day summary of the year, franchise "firsts," and more notes and quirky items from over a hundred years ago. This is a must for baseball history fans and Red Sox fans who want to know more about the history of their team.

this has got to be the most boring book ever published.

zero stars. As an Orioles fan I can't think of anything more boring than to read about how the Red Sox started. So, I am not going to read this book and I highly encourage you to not read it also. There must be a book on Amazon about Train wrecks you would enjoy more. For Christ Sake! They sold Babe Ruth! They went 8 decades without a World Series Championship. The only thing that saved them is after three decades of free agency they finally figured it out and started to win. It is the old saying, If you can't meet the goals, change the goals.
