Great and inexpensive Go board
I bought this board in order to teach my children how to play go. I rated this set five stars for two reasons. First, I think go is a great game, and second you get excellent value for the money. I managed to get my set for $10.99.The pieces and board are not the finest materials, but at this price I was not expecting the board made of hyuga kaya wood with clam shell and slate stones. The board is nice looking but a bit small at 11.75" x 11.75". It is made of what looks like medium density fiber board with a veneer. The stones are small with 12mm diameter and 3-4mm in thickness. The stones are made out of what looks like matte finished plastic.I highly recommend this set for beginners. The only drawback with the set is that it does not come with containers for the pieces. The set comes with ziplock bags. I replaced these with small clear plastic boxes.

Great board, great price
As an avid player, I was looking for a basic board to give as a gift. It's great for beginners, comes packaged in a stylish box, and is both practical and durable. Don't expect anything fancy when it comes to the board, though. It's a piece of wood with grid lines painted on. The instructions on how to play the game are not as clear as they could be, but they suffice. The board was shipped the next day from Amazon, and the product arrived in pristine condition! I am certainly a satisfied customer.

High Quality Playing Board - Instruction Booklet could be improved
The actual board and stones to play with are high quality. Storage for the stones is plastic bags as described so that is a downside but after three months they are holding up. They don't pose problems if you are gentle with them. You can also just buy more ziplock bags if they break. The instruction booklet was somewhat difficult to understand but useful for getting started. I used free online guides to learn the rules so this didn't end up being an issue. Overall, it's a great board for a great price. If you use online guides to learn and are cautious with the bags, this is a bargain!

Great game for the family!
My husband had asked for this game, and I had never even heard of it. He said it was like a Chinese chess game, so I was looking forward to trying it. When it got here we had the whole family playing, including our two kids who are 7, and 8. So kids can learn how to play this too, and it makes for a great competition game between the whole family. I was surprised that the kids enjoyed it as much as they did. The quality of this set is excellent. The wood board feels solid and looks nice, and the pieces feel good and solid in your hand. It is a little hard playing on a board this small, if I could've afforded it I would have paid for the larger one. If your just looking to try your hand for the first time at this game though, then this board will do the trick!

Nice starter set.
I've recently decided to buy a Go set after having wanted to try the game for several years. I was looking for an inexpensive set as I had no idea how I'd like it. The board on this set is smaller then a "professional" one but doesn't seem like it'll be large enough to not hamper play, and it seems like its substantial enough to hold up over time. The stones which are about the size of an M&M have a solid feel to them.Basically it'll let me explore the game until I decide it not for me or I feel I'm going to stick with it in which case I'll upgrade to a larger board and more expensive set.

Low Price - Low Quality
Like many Go players of my generation (I am 17 at time of writing), I was introduced to the game through a manga/anime series called Hikaru-No-Go. I was immediately captivated by this game's elegant simplicity, that rivaled it's simultaneously complex nature. From what I saw, Go was what you make of it - the more time you spent, the better you got. This in mind, I put aside some money and gave $150 to my brother; At the time, I asked him to buy me a Go board on the Internet. To my surprise, he took most of it for gas money and bought this instead. So when it came in the mail, I excitedly took out the board and found a cheap piece of plywood with painted plastic stones the size of an M&M. I didn't like it... Wasn't impressed by the game anymore, and didn't play it. Up until I walked in on a Go Club at my local hobby store did I become reimmersed in my current obsession.Don't get me wrong, I don't expect much of a board that falls under this price category... But do NOT GET THIS BOARD. Save up more money and purchase a higher quality one from this site or any from gogameguru.

I had been looking for a nice GO board for awhile
I had been looking for a nice GO board for awhile, but couldn't afford a fancy set. I wanted something for in my classroom on board game days to introduce my students to this amazing game. This set has proven to be fantastic. The board is nicely made, and the pieces, while not super fancy, and decent quality. This is a great set for anybody who wants to play GO or is learning the game. The set also is fairly light when in the box, so it's easy to take GO on the go. :P

2 boards, 2 different experiences
I ordered two of these boards for Christmas gifts - one for my son and one for his friend. They arrived promptly, and I wrapped them and put them under the tree. Both boxes showed no external sign of damage. My son's board was in perfect condition when he opened it, and he has enjoyed many hours of Go with it.On the other hand, the one we gave to his friend was found to be damaged when he took his home with him and opened it. One corner looked as though it had been dropped, perhaps in packaging at the plant or somewhere along the line before shipping, and landed on the corner, denting it some and making the corner difficult or impossible to use in play. Since he is not always in town and the damage was not discovered until he left, he decided to keep the board, in spite of our offer to exchange boards when he next came home. That was a bit of a disappointment with the product.Otherwise it is a good product.
