Really happy with the stainless steel kettle

Okay, this review is for THE STAINLESS STEEL MODEL ONLY - the coloured models appear to be very different. So with that in mind, let's talk about this bad boy. These kettles have got a lot of bad reviews over the years, but so far I'm delighted with mine, and I'd like to clear some things up.- *Yes*, the stainless steel model is stainless steel on the inside. There is no black enamel lining to crack and allow rust through. I've been using this for three weeks now and it's still spotless inside, though I'd expect to have to descale it at some point.- It *doesn't* overheat around the spout and spit water. I can see this happening if you let it boil and boil - please don't do that. Take it off the heat as soon as it has a steady whistle going. (The whistle is really super loud, by the way) I do get a few little drips around the outside of the lid when it's boiling, but they don't actually spit.- *No*, I haven't had any trouble opening up the whistle. It has a solid plastic flick switch that you bring down to open the spout. It's never been hot or e.g. released steam backwards onto my fingers.- It is *not* particularly heavy - it's actually very light, even to lift one-handed with water. I'm a tiny little woman and I feel the weight if I pour it one-handed, but not to an uncomfortable level.I should say my model has a "max level" indicator on the outside (it really should be on the inside, Le Creuset...), which may not have been present on earlier models - I think many of these issues may be down to overfilling.I am very happy with this kettle and wish I'd bought it ten years ago, instead of waiting for my electric kettle to die. It's big and chonky and looks fantastic in my kitchen. Another thing I like is that the handles on the lid and the kettle are attached with good, solid screws, so if they come loose you can just tighten them up again. The only thing I see causing problems if it ever fails is the whistle itself, and you don't really *need* a whistle.Oh, also, yes, I put it on the boost setting on my induction hob, lol, even though the manual says you shouldn't. It's perfectly happy as long as I switch it right off when the water boils, and it takes 400ml of water for tea to a full boil in 40 seconds, which is much faster than my old electric kettle. Your hobs may differ! - please be careful out there.edit - a month on I'm still very happy with this kettle. I have had it build up pressure so that water escapes from the spout if I don't take it off the heat right away - however (and I'm embarrassed to have to explain this to a class of, presumably, adults) *please don't point boiling kettles at your face or anybody else's*. Point the pressurised pot of boiling water *away* from living things. Thank you.I have had an issue where the lid became tighter over time, to the point I really struggled to open and close it. However, the lid comes completely apart. Another review mentions you can do this to drain water from it or clean it, but you can also hammer down (or out) the little bumps in the edge plate to adjust the fitting of the lid. Everything about my kettle is splendid now and we continue to get on very well.

Lovely stove-top kettle. Whistle is a little weedy

This is a lovely kettle, ideal for a range-style stove or Aga.As ever with Le Creuset, it is well presented, looks gorgeous and is well made. My only slight quibble is that the whistle is a little weedy, but aside from that it is fun to make tea the old-fashioned way, rather than just use an electric kettle.A fine addition to our kitchen, that we enjoy using.

Not fit for purpose

This is less than 6 months old and the enamel has started coming off of the bottom already. Got hold of retailer who has said this is not covered by any warranty so will not do anything about the issue. Awful product do not buy . Expensive rubbish

Le Creuset Traditional Kettle

Excellent stove top solid traditional kettle. Boils quickly due to its large base. Whistle is loud enough.

Very good kettle

A really good kettle well made of enamel and won't leak at the bottom. It's great for cooking as it a large sized kettle. And great for drinks. I'm Well pleased with this.
