The Last Voyage of the Demeter - Collector's Edition [DVD]

I loved this movie and couldn't believe it didn't do better at the theater when it was released. I saw it on the big screen and now own this DVD to watch it again. Want to know the story about how Dracula arrived in England? This happens before the Bram Stoker's Dracula movie (watch this movie and then that movie to get the "big picture"!). An evil presence is on the ship and is picking off inhabitants one by one (like in "Alien"). But this is a much more creepy and menacing Dracula and not the black cape wearing debonair gentlemen shown in other movies. Not even waving a crucifix will save you from this demon! Yowza!

Vampire on a ship and basically everyone dies except the doctor. Dark like a vampire movie should be. Dracula is more like a winged Nosferatu, very intelligent being but still very animalistic. Based on Dracula's trip to England on the ship Demeter...from the book.

Really scary movie

Well written, just not scary.

It is lore accurate with Dracula's story. Prelude to the story of this movie (this is not spoilers or in this movie however if you want to know Dracula's story without watching other movies, keep reading otherwise just know it's a good movie). Dracula in his castle decided he wanted to venture out into the world and claim more property so he invites a man named Jonathan Harker to his castle (I won't tell you what happens in case you haven't seen other Dracula movies ie. 'Bram stoker's Dracula' and the Netflix original limited series 'Dracula' (I highly recommend you watch it)). Harker helps with his plans and he ventures into the world. Only problem is Dracula can only occupy his own unholy ground so he must ________ (you'll find out) and the Demeter is the boat he uses to cross into Victorian England. And that is where you're story begins.

Good movie for the price!

I can see why this movie might not have done very well in theaters. Let's be real, it's based on 16 pages out of a book. So to say that the director and writers took a lot of creative liberty is an understatement. It also suffers from the fact you know how it ends if you read the book...or just those 16 pages from it. I liked it for what it was. The set design was fantastic, and the featurettes show much the crew enjoyed making this movie come to life. If you go in with reasonable expectations, there's a lot of fun to be had here.

Escribo esta reseña únicamente para aclarar (he visto dos comentarios que dicen que no va en la region B) que esta versión de "El último viaje del Demeter", de importación USA (BlueRay+DVD+Código digital), está libre de código por regiones, se reproduce perfectamente en la región B (como es en mi caso viviendo en España).

When it finally arrived near Whitby Harbour, it was derelict. There was no trace of the crew.Its been a while since we've seen a decent vampire movie, especially when it comes to Dracula! The last voyage of the Demeter (2023) is a great horror movie that's original and has new ideas for a fun story for the character Dracula. The isolated setting on a ship is a good scary set up, much like an Alien movie but at sea instead of space! Everyone trapped and being picked off one by one, the movie has a decent cast and Dracula himself is a scary looking devil like monster. All the effects in the movie are a good decent looking budget, a mix of good CG and practical blood and gore! well worth checking out, one of the best horror movies of 2023 and certainly one of the coolest Dracula stories in a long while.Blu-ray (US import) has a decent HD picture quality. There's a region B version available in Australia that forces you to watch trailers that you can't skip and has no extras. I thought the days of these second-rate local releases had gone but clearly not. For hardly more this USA version has a barrel load of extras, commentaries and above all, joy of joys, must be region free. It played in my region B locked player without any issues.
