The Royal Game of Ur is something I got as a child, and lost over the years. This is an excellent replacement. It has a good rule system, and plenty of suspense for a boardgame. My first game came down to the last few moves with both my opponent and I racing to a very close finish. It fits nicely on my bookshelf. The pieces and colors are traditional as I remember them. The wood could be of a tougher quality, but then it would cost more. It is sufficiently sturdy if one is careful with it.

I was excited to get this game since I had been reading about its history as the oldest known game in the world. When I found that it was offered in a wooden version, I quickly ordered it. When it arrived and I opened it, I wasn't disappointed. Just beautiful, very nice craftsmanship. The slide out drawer that holds the game dice and player pieces is a nice touch and very functional. My wife and I have played several games and we love it. Quickly becoming our favorite. I love the attention to an 'authentic' Mesopotamian look. My only disappointment has nothing to do with the game itself, but with the delivery time. Took around two weeks before I got a Shipment notification, then only two days after that for delivery. Other than that, I would highly recommend this game. It's fun, easy to learn, and quick to play.

For such an old game, it’s so much fun! I have a tablet version, and enjoyed it immensely, but a game with a real tactile feel, and the dice rolls, made it MORE enjoyable. Build quality is pretty good, though not perfect. Overall, it’s nice.

This is a simple yet strategic two-player game with a ton of history. Players race pieces around the board using pyramid shaped dice. While luck plays a role, skillful positioning is key to blocking opponents and maximizing your own progress. Games are quick and engaging, and fun to teach kids with a history lesson included.

I love that this game can be easily traveled with. The game has a rolled up game board, and the accessories come in a pouch. I can fit the whole game in the pouch, and it's easy to find people to play with. I am happy with the quality and portability of this game set, and I would order this again.
