The media could not be loaded. Great simple little device. It does what two different stud detectors have failed to do. By finding the nails in the laths you can be confident there is a piece of timber there. Prevented me chain drilling the wall to find the stud. Brillant!

Simple, cheap device which I'd choose to use over the other tools I've tried, some costing over £100. The magnet catches on the nail or screw head without any issues. Once you've found one, the rest are easier because you can either run in a straight line down the wall or measure across to where the next stud should be. I wouldn't be without it. These other electronic devices can be very frustrating to use and a lot more expensive.

it's a bit expensive for what it is but it does seem to work quite well the only way I think you could get it cheaper if you was on holiday in the states as otherwise it's not bad not bad at all

Having been frustrated with electronic stud finders in the past, I bought this to determine which way the ceiling joists ran in our dining room. By sweeping across the ceiling in a sort of shape 'S' pattern I was quickly able to find screws holding the plasterboard onto the joists and it gives a useful clicking noise as the magnet clamps onto the screw. I marked each one with a small blob of blue tack until it was clear which direction the joists went. The magnet in the device is strong enough to hold itself to the ceiling when over a screw.The only real downside is the price. The device is about 3.5cm/1.5" in diameter and is made of what feels like cheap plastic and I still can't shake the feeling that it is a colossal rip off and about 3 times the price it should be.

There are plenty of electronic/digital stud finders on the market and I was tempted, but then spotted these simple magnetic Studpops. Brilliant! Sliding across and/or up and down the wall until you feel the magnet pull on a screw head couldn't be easier. It just holds on the screw. I bought two, so moving down below the first one just confirms the line of the stud. No fuss, just quick accurate finding of the wall stud.

The idea is great, but the magnet isn’t strong enough.If it was stronger the piping sound would be louder, at this time you are better of getting a strong fridge magnet which is cheaper and still does the job.Can’t really justify the price for the product personally.

I used the studpop to hang a ceiling anchor for my home gym - it's an excellent and very efficient way to identify where the studs are in a ceiling (even a very old textured ceiling). It works by finding the nails used to attach the plasterboard to the stud, which should be pretty close to central on that stud.What I did was to put the popper up to the ceiling and slide back and forth (as instructed on the package) vaguely in line with where I wanted to anchor to go. I found and marked with pencil three nails in the stud (which are really easy to find - the little blue dangly literally pops up into the body of the popper when over a nail); joined them with a line, marked my holes on that line, and stuck the drill in.I checked the holes were fully in the wood using a bent coathanger, and once I was happy I'd not come out of the side of the stud at all, I hung the anchor. Really easy to use, cheap, tiny and effective. And no batteries. It's going to live in my drill box forever now.
