Sturdy and Good Looking

I am a fan of Bodum products. I have several kettles but purchased this one because it's glass and there is no contact with plastic. The kettle feels very solid and the size is perfect. I like that I can watch the water boil and it's easy to take a quick look to see how much water is in there. The "keep warm" feature is something I will use often. The kettle has a nice gloss finish and looks great on my counter. Very happy with my purchase!

Small and pretty

Great small kettle that takes up little space on your counter.

Works well.

I love how fast it heats up the water, in like 2 minutes. You have hot boiling water.. works great. Very lightweight

Suprising

I read through most of the reviews for this kettle. Some reviews almost turning me away, but this has worked great for me at the office. I needed a smaller electric kettle and this fit the criteria. It heats and boils water in about 3 minutes, its light and travels easily. Its easy to use as well. A good purchase for the money

(17oz Variant) Wonderful kettle if you’re a single-person household.

I got this kettle specifically due to its small size. Since I exclusively use it for nightly tea, which is only 12oz. So a half liter kettle would be way overboard. And considering it’s price, this little thing is brilliant! The design is gorgeously simple, (especially the white, very bauhaus). In terms of how it functions, it’s very simple, but it works well. You simply pour the water into the kettle, pop it on the plate that connects it to power, and flip the switch. It’ll turn off once it starts boiling. It’s also built very well. While it’s made of plastic, it’s very nice and sturdy plastic. It’s also heavy, much heavier than it looks. Which makes sense since there’s a metal heating plate that boils the water.I have also noticed some people in the reviews complaining about the metal boiling plate in the kettle becoming tarnished after being used a couple times. While this also happened to me, its purely cosmetic, and has no effect on the function of the kettle. It’s just the minerals in the water being burned into the surface. It’s more common if you have hard water. If you just really hate the idea of the boiler plate in your kettle looking tattered, you can use bottles or filtered water. But frankly I just don’t see why you would even care.My only real gripe is that you are not able to clean the inside of the kettle. Bodum recommends you simply fill it up to the maximum fill line and let it boil out to clean it. While I understand that the kettle has electronics inside that could be damaged with contact with water, it’s a bit naf they don’t even let you remove the top lid to wipe out the inside with a damp cloth or something. Small grip but it annoys me, so here it is :pOverall I would recommend this for any single person household. It’s great and I love it, wonderful job bodum 👍

Quick Heat Up

This is perfect for my one cup of tea in the morning. It’s fast and has shut off feature. Much better than microwaving.

Great for tea for one or two!

After a recent trip to London, I came back a tea drinker, and a fan of electric kettles. Not long after clearing customs back in the U.S., I started looking for an electric kettle.I initially bought a larger kettle from another manufacturer, but returned it due to the poor quality (lid seemed to melt after going through the pre-use cleaning process) and the fact that 1.7L was just too large for me. Neither my roommate or girlfriend are tea drinkers, so I am usually making tea for one (or sometimes two). Accordingly the old kettle, which had a minimum fill equal to the full fill on this kettle, was wasteful to use. After searching high and low, this seemed to be the only quality kettle I could find that was well suited for a solo drinker. It is priced higher than I would have liked (pricier than the larger one, actually). However, I have been very happy with the kettle. Filling it about halfway is perfect for a larger cup of tea for one, and filling to the max works out well for two. The unit is quiet, and the plastic gets warm but not unbearably hot like the stainless steel ones.Boiled down (no pun intended), here are the pros and cons:Pros-Small, perfect for tea for 1 or 2-Compact on the countertop-Quick boil-Seems well built-Not uglyCons-Plastic almost all the way around, except for the heating unit at the bottom-Black looks good, but might have purchased the red one in retrospect-Lid opens a bit awkwardly - it spins in place and is suspended above the reservoir, which makes for an awkward fill at times

Imposing counter presence

About 15 years ago I bought the cheapest plastic water kettle available at my local Big Box. A couple days ago, it finally failed. For a replacement, I wanted to go for a trusted brand, glass envelope, simple controls.Since Bodum has been my coffee maker for decades, I went with this one. It is a good-looking design but the size makes for an imposing presence on my counter. However, with a single use I have observed the following issues:- Fill level indicators are small and do not stand out. I will probably need to mark the 1 liter level with some thermal tape on the adjacent plastic case.- While ideal water temperature for coffee is around 200 degrees F, the five-position temperature setting only allows 194 degrees (90 Celsius) and Boil (212 degrees F nominal). So the kettle is suitable more for tea making than coffee. Even though the dial turns smoothly, it is NOT a continuously variable control -- there are only the five discrete settings.- At the Boil setting, the auto shutoff fails to function at my altitude where the boiling point of water is 202 degrees F. Instead, it just roils furiously until I manually shut it off.- The lid hinge is all plastic, and not too stout looking either. This is a guaranteed to break at some point. The good news is that, at my altitude, the Boil setting will heat the water to 202 degrees, an ideal temperature for coffee brewing. However, auto shutoff will not function.
