Does its job perfectly! way better than having to use motherboard jumpers.
I prefer to use this to start my watercooling system, its much better than using the paperclip method or motherboard clip option, IMO. Worked like a charm to leak test, and to run the system with no electronics on. just make sure your pump is the 4 pin molex, some newer D5 pumps use sata or other such options.

Just what I needed!!
So, SO happy I found this; even happier that it works like an absolute DREAM! I have an old IDE Maxtor HDD from 2001 that I have been trying just about every method I could find to somehow access the data on it. After a bunch of failed attempts with different methods and devices, I finally figured out that the drive simply wasn’t getting enough power. This drive needs precisely the output that this brick/cord provides. I attached this to the drive and it immediately spun up with not one single issue. Another bonus: the cords are both nice and long. This cord thoroughly made my year!!

It works
I used it to power an x360 USB pro v2. Also used it to power a 5.25 inch internal DVD burner and a 3.25 inch internal hard drive. I would not recommend powering multiple devices with this using a daisy chain connector. I've seen reviews where somebody measured voltage drop under load. I'm pretty sure this is normal. But it might be over loaded. Watch the lights in your house flicker when the ac comes on. Look at the car battery gauge when you're trying to start the engine. I'm not an electrical engineer but I'm pretty sure there's like an equation to calculate the voltage drop. It would need a voltage regulator circuit I guess. I remember I bought and amd bulldozer cpu back in 2013. The chip had no voltage regulator that the Intel processors of the time had. In order to over clock the cpu and keep the voltage in acceptable range under heavy work loads I had to increase it dramatically which fried one of my motherboards. This little brick can only do 2 amps. Add up all the amps that your gonna hook up to this. And think about when you are using daisy chain connectors and such they are going to act as a resistor as well. This little brick has no advanced voltage regulation. It's not a full computer power supply. It worked very well for my purpose

Don't use this for anything other than fans!
Pros:+ Convenience , reuse spare Computer Fans for out-of-pc applications+ Great Fan Tester to check noise levels at 12v and 5v (for 5v, use a 5v molex adapter or Red/Black lines). Also handy to check if the bearings are going bad or need to be lubricatedCons:- This power adapter doesn't maintain good voltage control over load.Under 12v @ 1A power load, this was reading about 10.9v for me on the +12v rail. That is well out of the +/- 5% comfort zone that I am comfortable with. I would recommend to NOT use this to power up Hard Drives or anything that has a higher power draw.... especially if you have important stuff on it!Conclusion: Only good for fans and testing. Do not expect to get full 12v out of it under load. For silent applications, this is mostly fine as most fans will be undervolted for lower speeds.... Just use a manual fan controller for full control

Quit working after a few days.
The item does not provide stable power. The other reviewers were correct. It ran fine for a few days and then recently it began having issues. I didn't bother running a multimeter on it. I'm just glad it didn't fry anything.

Does what it is supposed to do, without excess heat
I purchased three of these to replace similar power supplies that shipped with "SATA/PATA to USB" adapters. The power supplies are nearly identical in appearance to the original units they were replacing, but the original units would overheat (with no load), melting the plastic case to the point there were holes in it, and eventually shooting fire out of the hole when the unit finally failed. the original units were rated for a higher current level as well, but were clearly the cheapest possible.Other people here remark that they are having problems getting these units to hold their rated voltage under the load of a bunch of fans. I haven't done anything to test this units performance under maximum load, but when powering a single large hard drive, the 5v rail was right on the nose at 5.00v, and the 12v rail was at 12.28v. So with a nominal load of a drive rated at .5A@12v and .75A@5v, the unit performed flawlessly. And the unit runs fairly cool undder that load after nearly a week of continuous operation. From a design perspective, I don't like to load any power supply past the 50% point anyway, as transient loads will tend to be several times higher than working loads(such as when you turn something on) so those of you loading this unit past 1A are probably overloading the unit.Keep in mind that many of the cheap fans can pull more power than they are supposed to, as specifications may be a lie to get more units sold.I did hook this up to a bank of 6 6" fans, and the measured voltage was the same 12.28v, but these were whisper quiet type fans, so their combined current draw is even lower than the HD I tested with.

Fit the build perfectly
Works exactly as advertised. I'm using this as the power source for an external radiator build. Powers 4 200mm fans, a dc pump, and two temp/flow sensors utilizing an aqua computer quadro with no issues . The freedom this has provided to run all of my watercooling accessories externally is amazing

Great product, only 2A molex supply I could find anywhere.
