I have had our other spoon for years and years and finally had to order another one. The older one seemed like it was better quality but this spoon will do I just hope it lasts years like the other one did.

Great gumbo spoon. Sturdy enough to stir a thick pot of stew.

It is roughly made so I sanded the spoon down and rub it with mineral oil. I don't expect it to be pretty after cooking a vat of tomato sauce but the length is what I wanted.

If you are already a Gumbo maker, you probably have one of these. If you are just starting to make roux etc. or need something better. This is your stirrer. Keeps your arms away from any spatters and you will probably reach for this for other things as well. Chef Recommended.

Just what I needed for stirring deep pitchers of margarita mix.

So far, I am loving this spoon/paddle for stirring in my largest stock pot which is 12 inches tall. In the past, I tried to do this with shorter spoons, and sometimes couldn't get to the bottom of the pot if it was full. I also had to be careful not to get burned when using a spoon that didn't reach the bottom.With this longer spoon, I have 6" to hold and get a good grip even in the tallest pot. Since this spoon is not metal, I don't have to worry about it scratching my stainless steel pots. Even though this spoon is longer than most, the uses are not limited to tall pots. It also works well in smaller pots and even frying pans without being cumbersome. It is also very easy to clean with warm soapy water. Since this spoon is made of unfinished wood, I think it's a good idea to coat it with mineral oil now and then to protect the wood.I hope this review was helpful for you.
